IMPROMPTU POEM

I was recently able to visit Seattle and while walking along the waterfront down by all the piers I was approached by a man. He said he was from Haiti and began to take some paper and a pen out of his pocket. He had a short beard and long hair. I knew that he was going to ask me for something but I was curious so did not stop him. He asked me if he could make a poem for me from my name. I agreed and told him my name was Marie. M-A-R-I-E he wrote in a vertical line down the side of a small envelope. Very quickly he began to say aloud and write the words he chose on this piece of paper.

Mountain of dreams upon

A bed of

Roses in an

Inner peace and serenity for

Embrace of love

He handed it to me and I was pretty happy to receive it even though I knew that if I accepted there would be an unknown price tag. The creativity was something that I welcomed. I fully expected him to ask for a certain amount but he just stared at me, waiting for me to offer. So what is the going rate for a poem of the name Marie? It is $20.

BUSY BEE

There never is enough time in the day to get all the designs that I have brewing in my head made into a physical form. I wish that I could just be a robot with no need for sleep, food or social activities. Okay maybe I would not go that far but you get the idea right? Above is a custom order created out of eggplant silk satin with a gorgeous vintage rhinestone leaf brooch. In person the brooch is stunning and the fabric is so soft. It has a silk strap on the back to help the ring bearer carry the pillow without incident.

This pillow is also sold but I wanted to share one of my favorite design elements with you. I LOVE vintage carved mother or pearl pieces. I think that mother of pearl is one of the most beautiful materials to work with. Look at what beauty Mother Nature has provided us!

Custom bridal white silk flower sash that has been beaded with crystals, rhinestones and pearls. Silk chiffon hand cut petals? Don't mind if I do!

I just can't resist this green ribbon. Irish wedding perhaps?

THANK YOU ANNETTE!

I just got these wonderful pictures sent to me by Annette. I created the silk dupioni flower pin on the waist of her dress. I used hand cut taupe silk and ivory silk organza petals. The center of the flower is a freshwater pearl floral cluster. Her wedding took place in Grenada in the West Indies. If you want to see an amazing wedding and great photography visit the photographer's blog here. Don't forget the rehearsal dinner complete with hermit crab racing! After looking at all the pictures I want to book a trip now! Everyone looks so warm and friendly you just want to be part of it.

Thank you so much Annette for taking the time to send these to me! Now I am off to send an email to your photographer at Kabloom Studios to gush about the incredible photos.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM

This month I had a design challenge to create a pillow inspired by Shakespeare's play, A Midsummer Night's Dream. When I think of this play it brings to mind fairies, flowers and dreamy garden hues. I knew I would use lavender silks with irridescent details and a floral theme.
Searching through my supplies I settled on this arrangement. If you would like to learn more about this design here is the link to this pillow in my Etsy shop.

THANK YOU KRISTY!

I have some brand new customer photos to share! I would say that this is my favorite part about what I do. I just love these little glimpses into the weddings that I provided a tiny detail for. I always wonder what the whole picture looks like after I create these accessories and how they fit into the wedding design puzzle. Let's take a peek shall we?

Kristy told me that this beautiful flower girl was very careful to only drop one petal at a time along this very long walk. Looks like she did an exceptional job indeed!

CUSTOM ORDER

Just wanted to let you guys get a peek at this new custom order that I have been working on. I just love it! I used a lavender dupioni silk with chocolate brown silk taffeta sashes. I then layered it with lavender imported double faced satin ribbons. Of course I can not neglect to mention the obvious star of this pillow, the sequin and beaded flowers. I am thinking that I might just make this in a couple other colors.
